This morning I finally was able to get past the CPU boss in Final Fantasy 4! Success! Suck it Zemus! You too Giant of Babil! It wasn't so much skill as it was luck and good timing, but it happened. Finally. Yay.
Stayed the night at Chandra's (shhh! don't tell nooooobody. lawl.) but found it to be way too hot in her room so I crashed on her couch. Thank god for the AC in the living room. I woke up at like 7:30 and walked back into the room to see a crashed out Chandra and a wide awake Leilacakes in her crib. Being as how I like for ChanChan to get as much sleep as possible, Leila and I headed out to the living room to fling assorted plastic shapes about the room and play with farm animals, cellphones, and the DS. We eventually made our way back to Chandra who we proceeded to wake up a little. Tried to put down Leila for a nap but it didn't really take. We eventually all got up got ready for the day, but the munchkin was pretty much the cutest girl in the world all morning.
Continuing to plot the next album, which turned into 2 separate albums I could release just digitally. The plotting part is always the part that changes. Three months from now I might not like any of these ideas, but for now I wanna make a more serious album titled Mostly Harmless and a light hearted album called With Sprinkles! I just like the idea of the cover saying "Beefy, With Sprinkles!" Considering flying to Texas for a week to record in person with Tanner, which would be choice, especially if I went in the winter when Texas wouldn't, ya know, kill me dead.
Chandra made...purchases today that I'm curious about. Hopefully we'll be kickin' it and watching a movie tonight. Or anything really. I'm easy like Sunday morning. Holla!
This is easily the most intelligent and refreshing article I have read in years.
Just when I begin to feel a little itchy about the boutique situation an new opportunity knocks on my head this morning. A woman who saw my resume on the CCA job board (thanx CCA!) called and wants me to sew knits for her new boutique. this new boutique/studio plans to open in october doing small size runs of a small line of styles that her brother would screen print on. all of the work is to be done in-house in their studio in the boutique. is this sounding familiar to anyone yet? no? well i had this idea 6 months ago only for plus sizes clothes. not pissed, but excited to get involved in some way. heres the kicker, she wants to pay me $15-20/hr for part time work. more money doing something i'm passionate about. holy skeletal mother, give me the strength to leave the plus boutique when it's time.
Seriously, milpitas? Why ya gotta be such a dump? The denny's and the travelodge we saw as soon as we exited the freeway should have been our first clue. the gal that set up next to us made tacky acrylic scarfs and actually lived in milpitas and said this was the worst turn out for this festival she had ever seen. she didnt make a dime all day. us? we made $89. the booth fee was $200, plue the coordinator got 10% of whatever we made. i hope they enjoy their $8.
so needless to say this is so not the crowd for her brand, people scoffed and were rude, but for the most part just ignored the booth entirly. not the end of the world for her but a huge wast of her time and money and not a good example of the shows that i will be runing myself. which worries me a little, i really hope that i'm not overwhelmed and miss some sales.
things at the boutique are okay, i'm only getting 18hrs a week right now but at this very moment i'm not sure if i want more. but we'll see it's only day 3.
Went over to Ryan's new place yesterday. Had him start working on the new layout for my site which, before I left, was looking really really good. Can't wait to get that thing uploaded.
Later, Chandra, Byron, and I went to the mall. Then to Viera's and had sandwiches and baked goods. Went to her uncle's to deliver some of those baked goods to him and her dad while Byron used the rest room. We were suppose to go bowling, but we got there too late and we weren't able to go. I felt terrible. I still do actually because I promised Byron we would go and now he's like really pissed at me. It actually sucks a lot. Went to Chandra's and watched Anchorman and Beauty and the Beast. BatB is a lot shorter than I remember it. It really moves along at a brisk pace. I remember playing some FF4 somewhere in there, but I'm so stuck it's not even fun right now.
I somehow managed to do something wrong, so I'll be spending tonight working on the website and music.
I just got off of work, and I find myself in front of my computer again, winding down before I can fall asleep. I work at the Halifax Alehouse, probably Halifax's busiest bar. I'm a busser - I clean tables, gather up empties, clean 'em, keep the bar stacked with glasses, straws, limes, lemons, and that sort of stuff; I also change kegs, do keg counts, do beer requisitions (or 'reqs'), clean tables, windows, chairs, and bars, and I'm also the guy that gets to clean puke and unclog toilets. I love it. I make a lot in tips at the end of the night, and the staff is great. Plus, I work at a party. It's like getting paid to have a social life.
I had a good night tonight - Tuesday nights are when all the bar staff of Halifax go out drinking. This means the tips are usually quite high - nobody tips like someone who works in the service industry. It didn't really get busy until 1:30 am, but those last 2 hours were steady.
I've been working at the Alehouse for almost 2 months now. It's a perfect summer gig. I guess if I had to gripe about something, I'd say that the hours could be better; I work 9 to 5, only it's the one opposite of everyone else. But, honestly, I couldn't be happier.
I'm also doing some part-time work as a web developer, and it's given me the opportunity to learn PHP. I'm planning on buying a cheap server this year and setting up my own website/portfolio. I have a clearer concept for my portfolio, and I'm really glad I'm learning this web stuff now. Programming has expanded beyond C++ and video game programming in my mind; web programming has become just as interesting to me. I see a lot of potential for web-based distribution. There's a lot of money to be made on the Web: why ignore such a lucrative possibility? I've decided to get my web programming up to snuff so I can fall back on it if HB Studios doesn't hire me right away. Well, that, and I have an idea that just might work better on the Web...
OK, that's enough for now. I'm pretty tired.
it is shocking how fast word spreads in the booth building, and how very little i care.
I finally got "the call" today at 2pm. two days seemed like an eternity! Turns out it was her birthday today, she told me I was her present. how nice is that. any who, I work thursday and friday this week and then work a festival in milpitas on saturday and sunday for the kids clothing company. i need the money and i'm glad to get the work!
I have the feeling that something very bad will happen soon. I feel it.
