While doing my world wide web slinging for the day I came across an
interesting little page which may just give me the drive I need to start
adding content to this bad boy consistently, if not obsessively. What in the world is capable of such marvellous feats? My long time friend, I call him "competition."
The competition in question: IMBC 2008, or for those who aren’t down with my
boy ackro-nim, that stands for Ironman Blogging Competition. Essentially I need
to write a blog a day for more consecutive days than some other people in order to win. And there
are a couple more specifics you can read up on if you are interested. When I
mess up and don’t get one in for any given day, I lose. *Oh, and I lost the game. Yes, that game.*
I'm out. Later folks.
Hi. I'm new here.
What do you call it? The blogosphere you say?
At the very least you come up with a better name for it. Anyway, looks like I'm moving in.
My name is Pat. Nice to meet you too.
I guess a first name doesn't tell you a whole lot. I am an 18 year old student
living in Nova Scotia, Canada. I am
studying information technology at the local community college. Next year my
program will center on Programming which is a subject I have very little
experience with, but am enthusiastic about. Everyone has to start somewhere.
I'm a fan of music (metal, rock and geek rap), film and technology.
For years I have seen people piecing together blogs, some good and some bad.
I've always seen it as a monotonous task, something i wanted to part of because
of its inherent trendiness. Who would want to read up on my latest less
than exciting exploit? Scratch that. New Question. Wouldn't it be kind of vein
to assume that people wanted to hear my incoherent babbling?
Then it dawned on me the kind of drivel that people are reading on the net
already. It seems like people will read anything as long as it has a catchy
title and pretty pictures. Well, that’s not true; they will partially
read anything a catchy title and pretty pictures. I could be like an
internet superhero, ready to save procrastinators worldwide from themselves and
the inherent evils that surround them. Today I stand (type?) before you a
changed man. I've been reading some interesting blogs lately and came to a
sudden realization;
Hey, I can do that too. I feel left out.
Furthermore, I've never had any problem with being vein. Its not like I'm
forcing it down your throat. You can leave to wander aimlessly around this
barren wasteland of bits and bytes at anytime. Unless if I did force it down
your throat, in which case your stuck with it now because I rigged your web
browser and any attempt to leave will end in a rickroll. Don't say I didn’t
warn you.
I'm working on making some changes in my life, and where better to document
that progress than on everyone’s favorite series of tubes, right? Things like
losing weight, developing new and interesting skills, creating a sense of style
outside of the heavy metal stereotype. Now that I think about it, a little self
exploration paired with some soul seeking couldn't hurt too much either.
Hopefully.
And sometimes I just like to rant for no reason, and rather than thrust it upon
somebody I might as well leave my nonsensical tomes lying around in no-mans
land for anyone who wants to pick them up and thumb through them of their own
volition. Perhaps such hazardous material might even give a reader super
powers. But my best guess would be that it wouldn't amount to much more than a
headache and a sudden urge to go geek it up in some manor.
I can keep analyzing the reasons I’m here, but I'm here now regardless. I think
that the mere fact that I am sitting here pecking away at the keys speaks way
more than any bullshit I can spout about why I came here.
I never kept a diary. This could be an interesting experiment, and I'm already finding myself enjoying myself. I could get used to talking about myself for long periods of time, I'm enjoying it. I can tell because I'm supposed to be working on school assignments and look where I ended up. Procrastination isn't for the weak minded, it's for those of us with wandering minds. Now that I have my "I should start a blog" urge out of the way, I think I can continue working on my database assignment.
Have a good one boys and girls. I'm out.
